With the Loving-Kindness
exercise, I discovered that even though there is a lot of suffering in this world,
I can still do my part by helping those around me. It does not need to be anything huge; it can
be a kind word, a smile, even a heart-felt thank you.
With the Integral Assessment, I have known for quite some time that I
need to focus on my biological domain. I
have been procrastinating for quite some time about starting an exercise
plan. When I read about the Integral
Assessment, I knew it was another sign to pay attention and just do it. Lately, my blood sugars have been getting
progressively higher with each blood test so I vowed to my doctor that by the
next blood test (in May) my numbers would be lower. Though I have been watching what I eat, I had
not started any type of exercise plan. I
am finally taking notice of the signs that keep knawing at me and I am starting
Pilates. I was watching TV late one night and I saw an advertisement for Malibu
Pilates. I took it as a sign and it
really got me motivated. It is scheduled
for delivery on Monday. So by this time
next week, either I will physically feeling better or regretting another online
purchase. To be continued….
It's always the simple and small things that make a difference. Like you said, a smile can really turn someone else's day around. That's why it is so crucial in health care to keep a positive attitude not only for ourselves but for the patients. I'm sorry to hear about your blood sugars. You are on the right track because diet and exercise is key to controlling diabetes. It can be the difference between living a healthy normal life or needing to poke yourself four times a day with insulin. Goodluck. Hope it all works out for you.
ReplyDeleteMaria,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the insight you provided in your blog this week. You're so very right we can give a smile, a wave, a nod - and think it's a little thing. Yet we will never know just how much of an impact it can have on another person. Universal Loving Kindness felt too big for me to tackle with a lot of what's going on in my life right now, but it's solely about doing the little things we can right now. Like water eroding rock - we can make a huge impact by being the light of love one encounter at a time. I'm going back to try this meditation in a few weeks. You've encouraged me to stick with it and watch it manifest in little big ways.
As for the integral assessment, I almost felt like you were peering over my shoulder into my thoughts. My biological domain is also greatly lacking. It was such an intense focus for so long that when the other parts started to wear down, I didn't realize my health was starting to deteriorate. I'm scheduled for shoulder surgery on Thursday morning. As soon as I am steady enough to balance without free movement of both arms I'm going to start walking. Loving kindness to Anita begins one step at a time too.
Good luck with the Malibu Pilates. I'll be checking back in to see how things are going :-)
All the best,
Anita Cain
Maria,
ReplyDeleteProcrastination is my middle name. I totally understand where you are coming from. But you biological wellness is very important. Good luck with those blood sugar tests.

Hi Maria,
ReplyDeleteIt is absolutely true that the little things like a smile or a simple kind gesture can make someone's whole day.I always try to stay really positive when I am with other people because it tends to spread. It is amazing the effect that our own moods can have on those around us. A smile and a laugh truly are infectious. Unfortunately so is misery. Like they say, misery likes company. I like to keep things light and happy. It makes life better to live.
Thanks!
